Melissa Dunbar is the founder of Big Fish Your Pond. When it was time for her to return to Australia after working overseas for a period of time in the UK, Western Europe and the US, a decision was required – what to do next? Returning into the corporate world – or see what she could develop using the years of experience gained – the latter seemed like the obvious choice.

In the beginning it was freelancing; then it turned into fancy freelancing masquerading as a business; then the demands for her services became too great to manage on her own and Big Fish Your Pond was born.

Having a passion for nurturing excellence, it was important to build strong systems in the company so the way Melissa did things could be replicated in order for the company to grow. The team has expanded to 4 in a little over four years with a series of supportive sub-contractors who assist when the work load expands.

Melissa’s 15 years of experience in this broadly titled “entertainment industry” comes from a variety of areas but to name a few - the creation and event delivery of the now well established 3 week Adelaide Cabaret Festival, media and team relations for international sporting events such as International Cricket Test Match Series, concept design including game entertainment and delivery of Fox/Channel 9 broadcast Super League events and management of the Head of State Dinner for Queen Elizabeth II, marketing and communication campaigns, event creation, development and delivery are also part of the mix. Prepared by Melissa Dunbar – BFYP 18/04/07 2003 took her to New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Western Europe and the United States developing and executing strategic branding and communication strategies for a leading Australian company.

She has gained a variety of qualifications including an Associate Diploma in Fashion Design, a Bachelor of Business with a Marketing and International Business double major, a Certificate in Management including an MBA entry.

There now is a fabulous team to help grow this dream, Rebecca Emery, Rachel Palmer and Emi Crisapulli along with our many casuals and its their passion for excellence that makes many of the sensational projects and event happen.
